Well, the rain has been torrential. Last night’s thunder was a new experience for me. I’ve never heard such an explosive sound that, literally, shook my chair and seemed to go on forever. I can now understand why little kiddos run to their parents rooms at night…I, myself, had a slight urge to crawl under my bed. Rain water soaked an area of my room since the screens were duct taped to the outside so the windows do not close. That was nice.

Yesterday was my first day back in the classroom since my return. My students were very smiley and it was great to see them again. We are doing review this week before finals next week. About five of my students told me I am bigger…some in English, some in Creole. Supposedly this is meant to be a compliment, Haitian style, but I didn’t really take it positively, American style. I don’t know what they’re talking about! My pants still button!

I’m flying through books since I got here. If you have any recommendations on what I should read next, throw it out there. My kindle is ready!
