san diego…map vini

Standard

So, I saw the spine doc again today. Unfortunately what I heard was not what I was looking for. He told me not to go back to Haiti, but to go to San Diego and pursue treatment there. I went in fully prepared to ignore the doctor’s advice, but when it comes down to it, I don’t want to do anything stupid.

Of course, I am heartbroken because it feels like I’m going farther from home. I’m going to miss my Haitian family, friends, and students who are starting to wrap up the school year.

In my head, I plan on being back in Haiti before June. But it’s all up to me and how hard I work on getting myself better.

That’s all the information I have for now. I will post as new information and improvements come along.

  1. I am sorry, sweet girl. Try to remember that your life is long…and this is just a bump in the road. I know how dedicated you are to your Haiti family, students, and “plan”. ALSO, I know that you like to know what to expect…you are a planner and this is not in your plan. However, may I remind you that you have enjoyed a few rides down the mountain with the ski patrol…a few surgeries…a heartbreak or two…and you have risen to the challenge at hand. New nickname: The Phoenix. You will rise from this mess and create a new plan for the future.

Cannot wait to see you! Love, Mama Jean

  2. What Mama said. You are The Phoenix! 🙂 Fawkes, even. You are so strong, and a constant inspiration. Wishing you well; I’m sure you are missed in Haiti too. Thanks for updating — keep on keepin’ on, girl!

    Love, Joanne
